Interviews with people of South American origin who live, work and develop projects in Italy.
South America is present in Italy through people, families, associations, professional activities, culture, music, literature, cuisine, universities and sport.
Behind this presence are very different journeys. Some people arrived recently, others have lived in Italy for many years, and many have built their identities between different languages, places and cultural references.
South American Voices in Italy is Sudame’s interview series dedicated to telling these stories.
Each conversation begins with the guest’s personal and professional journey and expands into broader topics such as identity, work, culture, social participation, the relationship with one’s country of origin and life in Italy.
The aim is not to ask one individual to represent an entire country or community. Every interview offers a personal perspective shaped by a specific story, project and context.
More Than Migration Stories
Migration may be an important part of the conversation, but it is not the only focus of the series.
People of South American origin living in Italy work in journalism, research, entrepreneurship, culture, education, communication, sport and many other fields.
Sudame also seeks to highlight what these individuals are building today: skills, professional activities, cultural initiatives, associations, businesses and projects that create connections between different territories and communities.

What aspect of your country is most often misunderstood in Italy?
What part of South America would you most like the Italian public to know better?
The answers may touch on culture, history, society, work, politics, the environment or everyday life.
